About Us

Jamaica Homes is a small family of homestays in Rangrik, a quiet, historic village on the far bank of the Spiti River in Himachal Pradesh. Rangrik sits away from the busy main road and looks across the valley to the famous Key Monastery. It's a place where everyday Spitian life still sets the pace.

We run three stays, each suited to a different kind of traveller:
The Dreamcatcher Spiti – our premium homestay, built in the traditional Spitian way with thick mud walls, timber-and-willow ceilings and big windows facing the river. It is far from city lights, so we host stargazing sessions on clear nights. Guests can also enjoy curated local meals in our Spitian-style dining room and take guided walks through the village.
Gialpo Homestay – a warm, budget-friendly traditional house with wood-beamed, pine-panelled double and triple rooms and a cosy common lounge.
Serenity – our most affordable option, with triple rooms and dorm beds for solo travellers and backpackers.
All three stays are run by Jamaica and his team, who have more than a decade of experience hosting travellers in Spiti through Jamaica Camp at Chandratal. We welcome couples, families, groups and solo travellers who want to slow down and experience the valley the way locals do.

Why Jamaicahomes?

Three stays, one village, one host family. Jamaica Homes brings together The Dreamcatcher Spiti, Gialpo and Serenity, all in Rangrik, a small historic Spitian village across the river from the busy Kaza side.

  • Warm through the harshest winters. Our homestays are built and heated to keep you comfortable even when temperatures drop to -30°C.
  • Running water at Dreamcatcher, even in winter. Most of Spiti switches to buckets once the pipes freeze. At Dreamcatcher, the water keeps flowing all year.
  • Spiti River views. Wake up to the river outside your window, with Key Monastery across the valley.
  • Real village life. You stay in Rangrik itself, among Spitian homes and fields, not on a highway strip of hotels.
  • Dark skies and stargazing. We're far from city lights, and Dreamcatcher runs guided stargazing sessions on clear nights.
  • A stay for every budget. Dreamcatcher is our premium option, with running water through winter. Gialpo and Serenity are comfortable budget stays with the same warmth and views.
  • Everything handled. Stay, home-cooked food and transport arranged by people who live here and know the valley.
